Meta is looking to expand its opportunities for creators to earn money from affiliate links in their Facebook posts, by creating sponsored product links More visible within reels, videos, photos and text posts.
As you can see in this example, Meta seeks to enhance the display of affiliate links by giving them more presence within Reels, occupying the bottom of the UI.
It also has a new format for affiliate links in text posts as well:
Meta has also improved its display of the same under the comments section as well, providing more exposure opportunities.
Until now, affiliate links could only be displayed as URLs in captions, so this is a huge advance in exposure for such partnerships.
Finally, Meta is also rolling out a new system to automatically detect affiliate links from specified domains.
When an affiliate link is detected, Meta will give you a reminder to use the Paid Affiliate tag, while it will also pre-fill the affiliate link information when you click Add Affiliate Product Link. The streamlined process will make it easier for more creators to participate in such programs.
It’s an important update for creators looking to monetize on Facebook, as these updated display options help better align viewers with promotions that benefit the creator.
Larger, more clickable displays are sure to attract attention, and it will be interesting to see how many sales brands and creatives can find success with these updated formats.
Meta says updates are being rolled out to all professional pages and profiles globally, so if you sign up now, you may be able to boost your affiliate sales just before Christmas.
To display affiliate links in your content:
- Reels and Videos: During the publishing process, go to “Earn Money” and click on it, then select “Add Product Links” and fill in the information.
- Image or text posts: Go to Post Settings (this appears as part of the post flow), click Earn Money, then select Add Product Links.
It can be a good opportunity for both content creators and businesses to maximize their promotions.
