Write to Win (Round 3): What would you do if you were stuck in a different country with no money? – Young Post

Read the responses to this week’s Write to Win prompt, and choose the answer you like best.

green: If I found myself in a completely foreign country with no money, my priority would be to find shelter. Local organizations often help refugees and displaced people in poor areas. By connecting with an NGO, I was able to get support and resources, such as help in finding a suitable means of income or communicating with my family to return home. Therefore, I think that looking for a place to stay, such as a shelter, is the first thing to do, because it can provide me with daily support and protection from any dangers.

white: People say that children today are weak, and we will not live in an unknown country without money. I would say they are right. However, in true Gen Z fashion, while I may not know how to start a fire, I certainly know how the Internet works. I would look for tourists taking photos or videos of themselves and try to be in the background. With sheer luck and a lot of disturbing photos, I’ll become an internet sensation! Once I get enough traction, even tourists seek me out. Then I will explain my situation, and make social media my ticket home.

red: I will become friends with the locals and learn more about their lives. I will even learn some new skills and traditions that they have celebrated for many generations. After a few weeks, I’ll try to go home, or maybe not if all is well and I’m having a good time. If I returned home, I would have had a great experience while finding new pen pals. I would also learn what to do next time. Let’s hope I don’t get lost on my next trip!

blue: First, it is necessary to remain calm despite difficult circumstances. After that, I will contact friends and family members who can support me financially. If that doesn’t work, I will contact the country’s authorities to see if they can provide guidance or support for me. I’ll also try to find some quick volunteer work to help with in exchange for a shelter to stay in for the night. If all else fails, I will come up with a new plan of action.

“Write to Win” (Round 2): What skill would you choose to master overnight, and why?

Pink color: The power of a whisper in a community can be great. Imagine this scenario: Pretend to be a lost heir to a forgotten throne or a celebrity on the run. Let the drama unfold until everyone is throwing money at me just to get my “autograph” or hear my tragic story. By the time they realize the truth, I will already be on the return flight. Believe in how quickly rumors can spread, but remember to use this power only in difficult and dangerous situations.

brown: I will first take some time to evaluate my surroundings. If I’m not in immediate danger, I’ll take my time walking around the area, enjoying the change in scenery, before finding my way to a government building to ask for help to get home. Although being in a foreign area would be a terrifying situation, my life in Hong Kong is also very stressful, and being able to take even a few hours off and disconnect from my responsibilities will be beneficial for my mental health.

black: amazing! It’s time to be adventurous and creative. Having learned traditional art forms for years, I will first create a pavilion that showcases distinctive cultural traditions such as fortune-telling and Cantonese street opera. With no initial cost to view or participate, this may come as a surprise to locals. After that, I can try to expand and diversify my Chinese cultural activities, by performing Chinese music and sharing delicious dishes like egg tarts. This can bring new and unforgettable experiences to the people of the country. After becoming a billionaire, I can explore the amazing land instead of returning to the concrete jungle.

orange: I will try every possible way to earn money, such as finding a job and wandering the streets. No matter how long it takes to earn enough money to return home, I will make sure that I will meet my family and friends once I return. I’m not the best at singing, but it’s one of my favorite things and way to make money. My courage may also inspire people who secretly enjoy singing.
